My Journey Into Adult Work

I figured that, a week before my 6th anniversary in the adult industry, now would be a good time to truly introduce myself, explain my experience, and tell you a little bit about why I love this work so damn much.

To begin with, aaaaaall the way back in 2019, I started my journey in financial domination. I was not good at it. Not at all. That’s ok, though. Despite my title, I am not an all powerful deity. I’m human, just like you. It takes time to learn a new skill and for me, that skill was dominance. Nothing happened overnight, but I did begin to bring in subs – also known as paypigs – and I earned pretty good money. But because 29-year-old Sara was just not comfortable being dominant yet, I began to explore new ways of earning money online. That led to me making more generalized adult content. Spicy content, if you will.

I can’t remember what my first video was and it’s no longer available for purchase because, like my abilities as a Domme, it was not good. The lighting was terrible, I’m pretty sure the sound was bad, and don’t get me started on angles. I didn’t invest in a ring light and tripod for some time.

As I began to make more and more content that didn’t involve a dominant Sara, I let the financial domination part of my personality fall to the back burner and prioritized this new form of content instead. I mistakenly invested in a cheap digital camera before realizing that the phone I purchased in the summer of 2019 was so much better. It took my content to the next level, but I still wouldn’t say it was good.

We all know what happened in March of 2020. COVID-19 screwed up everyone and unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with my content. I didn’t remain consistent like I should have. When sites like OnlyFans and ManyVids got bombarded with new models and performers, people like me who didn’t post all that often were left in the dust. That didn’t stop me, but it did cut my earnings significantly.

Since then, the market has thinned out again, though I doubt it will ever fall to pre-COVID levels and that’s ok. Adult work is not a zero-sum game. There’s a market for everyone, so as long as you have a unique take and remain consistent, you can make fairly good money.

Amid breaks for mental and physical health, my brand did begin to grow and I began working with other local performers like Vince May Video, which was an amazing experience. Just working with him taught me quite a bit about lighting and angles, for which I will always be grateful.

In 2022, I made the unfortunate mistake of moving to Syracuse, NY and let me tell you this: if you make adult content and you’re considering moving there, hoping to find other creators to collaborate with, do not do it. I’ve found 2 people to work with in the 2.5 years of living in this area and I recently called it the “Great Mistake of ’22” to my fiancée. She agreed, by the way.

After a period of mild depression, I began making content again in spring of 2023 and by July, I was taking my first trip specifically with content creation in mind. In July, I flew to Vegas to work with a handful of talented performers and I have to say that it was one of the best decisions I could have made. Did I technically have the money? No. I’m pretty sure I had $3 left in my account after the Uber back to the airport. But did it produce some spectacularly hot content? Absolutely.

Since then, my life has been through some upheaval, including 2 back surgeries in 2024 with a third one coming up at some point, likely this year. That, plus the results of the election, caused me to rethink my online persona.

Financial Domination is back, baby! Goddess Sara made her return in November and I haven’t looked back since. Sure, I’ll still make the other kind of content, but for now it’ll all be solo. I don’t intend to film men for a while. I might if they want to make sub content and I might work with other genders, but due to the impending third surgery, I prefer to remain solo.

So that’s a short explanation of my journey thus far, but it doesn’t show you why I love what I do. Anyone can say “I love sex, so this should be fun”, but that’s not why I love it. I get to be creative in ways I never got to be before, I have learned new skills such as marketing, social media management, video and audio editing, and so much more. I get to interact with like-minded individuals and share successes and failures with people who understand. Even my worst experience in this industry isn’t enough to put me off of wanting to grow my brand.

I only recently realized that, except for writing, this is the only activity I’ve done for more than 6 months without quitting. Sure, I took breaks, but I always came back. I always wanted to come back. I like being my own boss. I like being in charge of what I do, when I do it. I like deciding who I work with and when. I like almost everything about this job.

It’s not for everyone. Not just anyone can do this. I’ve known plenty of people who, on paper, should be insanely successful. Unfortunately, when they got down to it, it was too much work, they couldn’t be consistent, they didn’t want to prepare, or any number of things. I think a lot of people forget that it’s actually a job. If you treat it like a hobby or just a side hustle, you’ll fail. There are reasons I haven’t gotten into doing this full time (though since losing my job in May of ’24, that’s kind of where I’m at).

It’s been a wild journey, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Recently, I had a video about findom go mildly viral on TikTok. Since then, I’ve been bombarded with comments and questions about how to get started. This blog will be dedicated to providing insight and explanations outside of what I include in my new YouTube series. I hope the information helps and I hope you gained some encouragement from this post.
